Overdale Road clean-up
The area behind Overdale Road has been a site for fly-tipping and graffiti and is a very visible eyesore from trains passing through Northfields station. Last week EFRA was informed by the Northfield Ward councillors that the site is to be cleaned-up following a walk-about by councillors, the Northfields safer neighbourhood team, and council envirocrime officials.
This morning, Mark, Phil and I, the three of us Northfield Councillors went on another of our regular walkabouts with the Northfield Police, Envirocrime, Contract Monitoring for Street Services, the contractors May Gurney, the Street Watchers' co-ordinator etc We all spent quite a lot of time behind 48 Overdale Road (by the fence at the far end of the Northfields station, accessed via the Suri Motors entrance) examining the huge piles of fly tipped rubbish and graffiti. I attach the picture of us at the site today - left to right Ricky Wright, Envirocrime Officer, Councillors Mark Reen, David Millican and Phil Taylor. As you can see here Keith Wright, the Contract Monitoring Officer, has arranged for a grand old clear up for the graffiti at this site. There was a discussion as to whether it might be a project for Community Payback, but they have decided against that. The rubbish will also get cleared. We also visited many other sites across Northfield Ward to ensure that all the Council Officers, contractors and Police know that the three of us Councillors are serious about keeping our neighbourhood safe and clean. All the best David Councillor David Millican Representing Northfield Ward
